Dr. Prather’s research investigates neurocognitive development with a focus on cognitive processes that support completing numerical/mathematical tasks. His research uses computational modeling, neuroimaging and behavioral experimentation. This research focuses on children 7 to 10 years of age as well as some work with adults. Research goals: (1) development of mechanistic explanations of behavior and the relationship between behavior and neural activity (2) the development of ‘interventions’ suitable for children with a wide range of abilities.
